August

  • Spidertracks App now available for Spider X devices

March

  • App.spidertracks.io has been released to all customers.
  • We’ve made the track icons on the flying page smaller to make them more consistent with the size of the icons in the go.spidertracks.com web app, specifically, most noticeably the key events have been reduced e.g. mark, SOS, watch etc

  • We’ve updated how tracks are displayed in a couple of ways:

    • When users have the "Show latest point" display option selected we now show the entire track when a user selects an aircraft. Previously we were only showing the last point when selected. This keeps the user experience consistent with go.

    • When a user selects an aircraft, the entire track is now visible on the flying page. Previously the viewing window was set based on the first and last point of a track, this meant that if the track started and finished in the same location then the rest of the track would be cut off and not be displayed on the map. We’ve updated this so that the entire track will now be displayed. This also keeps the user experience consistent with go.

    • We’ve updated the favicon for app.spidertracks.io, this is the icon that displays in the browsers tab, the old green Spidertracks logo has been replaced with the updated Spider logo that was already being used for the Spidertracks marketing website.

  • Website reliability improvements.

February

  • The History Page on app.spidertracks.io has a slider to the point navigation panel that allows users to quickly navigate to any point in a track, similar to the functionality already present in the mobile apps.
  • We have added a distance measurement tool to the flying page. This tool enables users to measure distances by drawing lines on the flying page, the measurement icon is located at the bottom of the map controls menu.
  • On the Flying page, we’ve simplified the track view options
    • Show Latest Point
    • Show Full Track
  • We’ve reduced the number of decimal points displayed in the point information panel for users with the degrees decimal location format. Previously it wasn’t limited so we’d show values like 48.72213363647461, -94.6034216880798. It’s now limited to 6 decimal places, which provides an adequate level of accuracy and reduces clutter in the point information panel.
  • We have fixed an issue relating to the organization settings page in app.spidertracks.io where users would sometimes be required to log in again on this page, this should no longer happen going forward.
  • Website reliability improvements.

January

  • Users now have two display options on the Flying page to choose from:

    • Show the last point - this hides all of the tracks so that users only see the most recently reported location of their aircraft
    • Show full track - this view shows a track line for each aircraft as well as any key events along the track e.g. watch, mark, SOS, etc.

  • We’ve added in a new text weather overlay for Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts (TAFs), which show a 24-hour forecast containing aviation-specific information such as wind, visibility and cloud cover for specific airports. TAFs are shown on the map as purple dots when you apply this layer and you can view the report for an airport by clicking on the associated dot.
  • We’ve also made some improvements to the weather layer loading messages that display when a user has selected a text weather layer to make them show less frequently as users navigate around the map.
  • There is a new display option available for Location Format in Personal Settings for Degrees Decimal Minutes. All SMS and email notifications that contain location information are also now correctly displayed in the user's preferred location format.
  • Website reliability improvements.

2019

November

  • We’ve released the NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) weather overlay in app.spidertracks.io NOTAMs alert aircraft pilots and aviation officials to abnormal weather conditions and potential hazards along a flight route and are filed with aviation authorities worldwide. If there are multiple NOTAMs for a single location then they will all appear within the NOTAM container. Users can view the details of each NOTAM by clicking on the row to expand the section.
  • We’ve also released some UI style improvements to the text weather overlay containers and the favorites menu.
  • We’ve also fixed a bug relating to incorrect distances being displayed for certain flights on the history page.
  • Website reliability improvements.
