What firmware do I have?

The flashing lights on your Spider actually indicate the firmware version of the Spider. The side to side flashing indicates the major firmware version and the power LED indicates the minor firmware version. 

The following video is an example of firmware version 2.8 and below you will see the improvements to the Spider firmware with each version of code.

Spider 3 (2016 or later), Spider 6 and Spider 7

Version 2.8.004 (released 19 October 2016)

New features:

  • Fixed an issue with the Spider locking up during an update on the computer
  • Enhancement to Spidertxt 2.0 functionality
  • Change made for Watch on / off resend to prevent duplicate text notification messages

Version 2.8.003 (released 9 February 2016)

New features:

  • Spider 3 and Spider 6 signal LED will turn off if GPS signal is lost
  • Spider 3 and Spider 6 signal LED will turn orange if the tranmssion delay to send a point is longer than 2 minutes, and turn back green once the point has been sent.
  • Added ability to dim the LED to completely off
  • Increased the Rate of Climb and Rate of Descent maximum values to 60 m/s
  • Added ability to dim Spider 7 LED by holding down Watch button on the keypad, this only works if Spider keypad has the latest firmware (1.4.001)

Version 2.8.002 (released 22 October 2015)

New features:

  • Spider 7 will have both GPS and Satellite LED on when first point is sent
  • Spider 7 will turn off both GPS and Satellite LED if GPS signal is lost
  • Spider 7 will turn off Satellite LED if the transmission delay to send a point is longer than 2 minutes and turn it back on once the point has been sent
  • Spider 7 Keypad signal LED will turn off if GPS signal is lost
  • Spider 7 Keypad signal LED will turn orange if the tranmssion delay to send a position point is longer than 2 minutes, and turn back green once the point has been sent
  • Added code to Spider 7 to send LED initialization sequence when external keypad is plugged into the Spider

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed the extra flash that occured during initilization
  • Fixed a speed up and slow down configuration bug
  • Rate of Climb and Rate of Descent configuration bug fixed
  • Fixed bug where Spider would freeze up when pressing SOS button and connected to PC

 

Version 2.7.003 (released May 2015)

New features:

  • Bluetooth communication enabled for iOS and Android
  • The Spider will now identify itself as 'Spider [serial number] when displayed in a Bluetooth list
  • LED Dimming while holding the Mark button (Spider 6)

 

Spider 3, Spider 4, and Spider 5

Version 2.6.003 (released January 2016)

New features:

  • Spider 3 and Spider 5 signal LED will turn off if GPS signal is lost.
  • Spider 3 and Spider 5 signal LED will turn orange if the tranmssion delay to send a point is longer than 2 minutes, and turn back green once the point has been sent.
  • Spider 4 Keypad signal LED will turn off if GPS signal is lost.
  • Spider 4 Keypad signal LED will turn orange if the tranmssion delay to send a point is longer than 2 minutes, and turn back green once the point has been sent.
  • Added ability to dim Spider LEDs to be completely turned off by holding the mark button down

Version 2.6.002

Bug fix:

  • The power LED indicates the correct version number now

Version 2.6.001

  • Mark button LED will flash back the equivalent number of times the button was pressed.

Version 2.5.007

The Spider 2 and the Spider 1 are no longer able to be updated. Please contact support@spidertracks.com if you have questions about the feature set about your Spider. We may also have options for upgrading to a newer version of Spider at a discounted price.

    Those are some pretty flashing lights in the videos.  How do we verify firmware on the S4?
